David Smith, Chairman and CEO of Western Print Group brings over 40 years of printing expertise to the organization. Indentured as an apprentice typesetter in South Africa, he soon qualified as a Master Journeyman, and in 1966 he proceeded to open his first printing works in Cape Town, South Africa. He subsequently grew this business through technology and acquisitions. These various companies were all grouped together under the Tricolor Press umbrella.
After emigrating to the United States, Mr. Smith acquired his first American printing company in 1993. Western Printing & Graphics, originally a four-person enterprise, was the first of 14 similar acquisitions, and under Mr. Smith’s aegis it grew into a fully-fledged commercial printing company with a flexo-label division. In 2006 he started a new company, Britefoil Tag & Label, specializing in the manufacture of foil-embossed tags and labels, which now has a large range of products that are distributed nationally and internationally.
Mr. Smith has continued his thrust by acquiring Orange County's premier business printer, Kenny the Printer. This company has been at the forefront of providing customer service and quality printing in Orange County. Most recently, the group now includes American Pacific Mailing, Pacific Promotional Products and Noelle Marketing Group.
